The Don – Limited Edition Pattern-Welded Working Knife
The Don is more than a knife—it is a tribute to craftsmanship, heritage, and the values of a hardworking man. Designed and named in honour of my late father, this knife embodies the principles he lived by: honesty, resilience, and building something that would stand the test of time. While every Don is crafted as a dependable working knife, this particular build is unlike any that has come before it.
The blade is hand forged from an impressive eleven-layer billet comprising three premium high-carbon steels: 80CRV2, 1084, and 15N20. Through traditional forge-welding techniques, these steels are united into a single blade that offers exceptional toughness, edge retention, and cutting performance while displaying a subtle, flowing pattern unique to every knife. It is a blade built not only to perform but to tell the story of its creation with every layer.
A defining feature of The Don is its hidden full tang construction. Unlike a traditional full tang, the tang follows the complete profile of the handle while remaining completely enclosed within the timber scales. This innovative design delivers the strength and balance of a full tang knife while preserving the clean, refined appearance of a hidden tang. The result is a knife that feels incredibly solid in the hand without compromising its elegant lines.
The handle is crafted from a stunning combination of dyed and stabilised Karelian Birch and dyed and stabilised Maple Burl. These premium timbers are renowned for their remarkable grain patterns and exceptional durability after stabilisation. A black G10 liner and solid brass spacer separate the two timbers, creating a striking visual contrast that flows seamlessly into a hand-fitted solid brass guard. Every component has been carefully selected and finished by hand, ensuring each knife is completely unique.
Protecting the knife is a handcrafted 8-ounce Doncaster leather sheath, purpose-built for durability and everyday use. Designed for scout carry, it offers secure, comfortable horizontal carry while providing excellent protection for the blade in the field.
