A Passionate Debate With The Government
Where the talking points are a bit louder than usual.
Some knives begin with a practical requirement. Others begin as a sketch on the workshop bench.
A Passionate Debate With The Government began with frustration.
Designed as a statement piece in response to what I regard as Queensland’s questionable approach to knife laws, this knife carries a little attitude in its name. Politics aside, however, there is nothing tongue-in-cheek about the knife itself.
This is a serious, compact fixed-blade Tactical EDC, hand-built for people who want something small enough for everyday carry without sacrificing the strength and reliability of a full-sized working knife.
With a 110 mm blade, A Passionate Debate With The Government sits comfortably between a compact utility knife and a capable outdoor blade. It is small enough to carry without becoming cumbersome, yet substantial enough to handle the everyday cutting jobs that would make a folding knife think twice.
The blade is forged from 80CRV2 high-carbon steel, one of my favourite steels for hard-working knives. Known for its toughness, durability and excellent edge retention, 80CRV2 is perfectly suited to a knife designed to be carried, used and sharpened for years rather than left sitting in a display cabinet.
At 35 mm wide, the blade provides plenty of cutting surface while maintaining a compact overall profile. The full-tang construction runs through the entire handle, giving the knife the strength expected from a genuine working fixed blade.
The handle features Brown Richlite Micarta scales mounted over Black G10 liners, creating a tough, stable and comfortable grip. Black G10 pins and a matching G10 lanyard tube complete the construction while maintaining the knife’s understated tactical appearance.
A fitted lanyard provides additional purchase when drawing the knife from its sheath. It can also be unravelled and repurposed as a wrist loop or emergency cordage when required.
Built To Carry
Every good EDC knife needs a carry system that makes you actually want to carry it.
A Passionate Debate With The Government comes with a full leather, ambidextrous scout-carry sheath designed to sit horizontally on the belt. Two removable straps secured with studs allow the complete knife and sheath to be attached or removed without taking your belt off.
The result is a compact fixed blade that rides securely and discreetly while remaining readily accessible when needed.
At only 217 grams, the knife has enough weight to feel substantial in the hand without becoming a burden on the belt.
The name might have started as a protest.
The knife itself was built to work.
Whether you’re looking for a rugged fixed-blade EDC, a compact camp knife, a dependable workshop blade or simply something considerably more interesting than another mass-produced folder, A Passionate Debate With The Government is ready to make its point.
And unlike most political debates, this one actually has an edge.
