Hand-forged in Australia by Saxon Knives Australia, the Bison combines traditional craftsmanship, premium materials, and purposeful design. 52100 High Carbon Steel – Built to Work
At the heart of the Bison lies a formidable 170 mm (6.7-inch) blade, hand-forged from 52100 high carbon steel.
Originally developed for demanding bearing applications, 52100 has earned an excellent reputation among bladesmiths. Its fine carbide structure offers outstanding edge stability, impressive wear resistance, and excellent cutting performance when properly heat-treated.
Measuring 4.5 mm thick at the ricasso, the blade delivers the strength required for demanding outdoor work without sacrificing cutting efficiency.
A wide bevel provides excellent cutting geometry, making the Bison equally capable of preparing camp meals, processing game, or tackling everyday bushcraft duties.
The flat-ground spine provides a suitable striking surface for a ferrocerium rod, adding another practical feature for wilderness use.

Deer Antler, Siamese Rosewood & German Silver

The hidden tang construction maintains the knife’s traditional profile, while a peened German Silver pin provides additional mechanical security.

Every Bison receives individual attention throughout the forging, shaping, heat-treating, and finishing process.
Because these knives are handcrafted, each example possesses its own distinctive character.
Future versions may feature different handle materials or blade steels, depending on availability.
Our preferred high carbon steels include 52100, 80CRV2, W2, and 1084. We specialise in traditional high carbon steel blades rather than stainless steel.
Materials may change, but our commitment to quality craftsmanship remains the same.
